In trying speed up my computer response time, I am running down the checklist for malware, spyware and viruses. My System Restore does not seem to be operating properly. When I click on the icon under System Tools, the computer just hangs and it sounds like the hard drive is making an audible spinning or whirring noise.

The target .exe that the System Resore icon is pointing to is "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\actmovie.exe". A screenshot is attached. Please advise.

That's interesting. I just checked my system restore and it points to:

%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

actmovie.exe is part of windows but the question is, how did it end up as a pointer for system restore?

I'll look around some more....

edit...I think that I'd just type in 'restore\rstrui.exe' and see if it works
