Hi.

I just reinstalled Windows XP on this computer and all went fine.. I just realized one problem, when I'm dragging a window, it's lagging. I mean it's not like the normal thing that all contents are being moved, in my case, it's lagging.

It's the only problem, I don't recognize any other slow downs.. it's just when dragging a window. And it's really annoying.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks

Yeah you may need SP2 if its not installed and you should get the latest drivers for your video card.

Thanks for your time both.

Yes, I think that's the problem. How do I know the drivers for my video adapter? Where should I start?

// EDIT //

I just realized that sounds are not working too. How do I find its driver too?

Thanks

Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process

Download and install Everest Home Edition

Run the programme, click + next to computer then summary

Look on the right for display / video adapter

Look on the right for multimedia / audio adapter

Look at the manufacturer’s site for the suitable drivers for your Operating System

If you are unable to find them, please post the make and model here before you download anything

Please set a system restore point before you install anything

Thanks for your help Keith.

Ok for the video driver..

I found it's manufacturer's website, and I saw their drivers section:
http://www.s3graphic...ivers/index.jsp

But I'm not sure which of these is my monitor:

4: DOWNLOAD DRIVERS

* Chrome for PCIe
* Chrome for AGP
* Chrome IGPs
* Legacy Discrete

My monitor is S3 ProSavageDDR (Samsung)

And for the sound driver, this is what I found:
http://www.viaarena....I...&CatID=1010

All Everest said about my audio adapter is this:

VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller

And this is what I found in it's site drivers download:

VIA AC97 codec incorporated into VT82C686A/B South Bridges
VIA AC97 codecs incorporated into VT8233, VT8233A, VT8233C, VT8235 and VT8237/R South Bridges
VIA Vinyl audio codecs: VT1612A, VT1613, VT1616, VT1617/A, VT1618
VIA Vinyl Envy24 controllers: MT/DT/GT/PT/HT-S
VIA AC97 codec incorporated into VT8231 South Bridge
VIA AC97 codec incorporated into VT8251 South Bridge
VIA HD Audio Codec VT1708 paired with VT8237A/VT8251/CX700(M)

I'm not sure what I should download there.

Thanks again.

If the sound isn't working, download from here, using the location nearest you

http://www.majorgeek...ad.php?det=4505

If that goes well, we can look at the video

To install the driver, save any unsaved work and close all applications then click on the driver download link (above). Choose the "Save File" option and save it to your folder under Windows where you file your drivers. Unzip the file. (To unzip the file right click and highlight "Extract All") Then double click on the Setup.exe file to run the installation program. Follow the prompts and restart at the end of the installation.
