Good Day All

I have a windows 98 2nd ed laptop, with 188Mb ram and a 4 Gb HD with about 2.5 Gb used on it. I do a lot of traveling with it and it constantly is getting tossed around and X-rayed etc going through airports. It is an older machine but has done me well over the years.

Just lately it has been hanging-up and crashing quite a bit, so I am not sure if I have a problem with the software (ie malware) or if it is just starting to see the end of it’s days. The machine actually crashed 4 times just trying to post this message, so I used my other machine. I am pretty good about keeping updates for both anti virus and windows regular, but who knows maybe something slipped by. This machine does not go on the web much but still may have something.

I followed your directions on the start page using all the recommended programs as indicated. My machine crashed many time when doing this but managed to work through this. A couple points to note, during the Ad-aware Se there were some options that I could not select under the “cleaning engine” and I had to restart the program approximately 4 times before it would complete without hanging.

There were a few hit using the recommended programs, one in ad-aware and one in spybot. All the rest were negative or clean.

Here is the HJT log as requested. I hope there is something there, because if not I guess I should be looking down the hardware path.
