I have recently defragged my HDD (Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 DMA HDD) and now when I reboot my PC I get the following error:

Disk boot failure, insert system disk

My OS is WINXP Home Edition SP2. I can't boot up my PC at all now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dead hard drive most likely. Not caused directly by the art of defragmentation.

Assuming you go into BIOS and double-check that the computer is set to boot from the hard drive then you will need to replace the drive and put a new copy of Windows on it.

Did you check to see if Hard drive is first, if its not you can set it first but are there any floppies / CD's in the computer?
