need floppydisk to partition hdd before os install

:blink: trying to install new 40gig hdd to no avail ultimate boot cd shows no errors in first 19gigs and can not read the second 19gigs. we need to partition the first 18gigs as C drive because the xp install cd will not allow us to partition
help, instructions, and/or download for floppy to do it would be great

What happens when you try to partition the 18GB for C.

:whistling: Finally found that the drive had a virus. Was able to format it with "Ultimate Boot Disk" and regain the entire 40 gigs. Thanks for your interest. Crunch
B.T.W. Pretty cool really, cause it was bought off ebay and has a manufacture date of Febuary 2007, apparently seller was unable to install on it either. Took awhile to learn how to use the UBCd. Found in one of its partitition tools a way to format. Then the install went perfect. My HDD Regen floppy had already confirmed no bad sectors but I was unable to write to it. Gave us a night of flustration, now works great.
