have 2 256's installed, am i suppose to get another 256 or can i get 1 512 or 1gb?

This is like saying I have a car, what type of fuel should I put in it? Bearing in mind you've got unleaded, leaded, diesel, etc and the wrong type will kill the car.

More details needed really. What type of computer is it?

The A7N8X-X takes normal DDR memory, it will take up to 3Gigs of memory, so it can take three 1Gb sticks.
