hi everone i just got a gateway solo with windows 98se installed on it from my grandfather the question i have is he used it for work and i guess he wasent the admin for his own computer and i want to change it so that i am the admin so that i can apply the security updates windows has before they stop making them for windows 98se so i was wondering if anyone knew how to clear the entire user process or is there someway to make admin in users because i cant seem to figure it out (after 7 days) lol

Everybody is an Admin in Windows 98. There is no concept of Administrator or Limited accounts like there is in XP.
A separate tool on the Windows CD is System Policy Editor which you can limit certain things to, but this isn't comprehensive and includes one option that could be rendered irreversible without wiping the system.

then how come i when i go to the windows update it tells me sorry you are not an adminastrator and them gives me options on how to run as local admin but of course it dosent work for 98 and there is no optiomn for windows 98 please help
