popups and spyware [RESOLVED]

Hi,
Thank you in advance for your help. This is my first time using this, I followed the directions that you provided for new users. I have run adaware, cwshredder and spybot. I have both AVG and Antivir XP installed. Is that ok? I have noticed that when spybot and adaware scan, my antivir guard pops up sending a message that Trojan Horse/TR/Dldrlpinsig has shown up. I can't get this to stop. Also, I continue to have Aurora popups along with others that I can't find a common sender popping up. I thought I had somehow uninstalled begin2search.com, but sometimes it comes back! Here is my Hijack this log:

I have both AVG and Antivir XP installed. Is that ok?

It is ok to have two antiviruses installed...but you need to disable any sort of real time scanning on one or the other as having two running at a time may cause conflicts.


We probably won't get it all in one go as there are some new infections here...

Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Add or Remove Programs" and remove (if present):

You are running HijackThis on the desktop. Note that when you fix items in HijackThis a "backups" folder will appear. These backups are important in case something must be restored, do not delete them. I recommend you move HijackThis to it's own folder on the desktop.

You have PowerReg Scheduler in your log. This is a registration reminder that is used by a number of different companies. It is not needed and some people think that it reports back to the company about your computer, so I suggest fixing these:

Folders and files with a tilde (~) and a number at the end means that there is a file/folder that starts with the six characters in front of the tilde, note that there may be spaces in the name. If there are more than one, please report them back and do not delete!


Reboot normally to get back to normal mode and post a new HijackThis log in a reply to this topic.

First question... which antivirus guard would you suggest I keep running, the AVG or Antivir XP?

Next, I followed your directions, and showed all hidden files, but I could not find and obviously not delete any of the system 32 files you listed. I also could not find C:\PROGRA~1\NETRAT~1\. I did delete the rest of the files as you instructed. Here is my new log:

As far as which antivirus is best I'd have to do research...never used either. You may just want to go with the one you like.

Download Pocket KillBox from http://www.downloads...org/KillBox.zip
Unzip it to your desktop.
There should now be a KillBox.exe on your desktop.

Run Killbox:
  • Double-click KillBox.exe to start KillBox.
  • Select the "Delete on Reboot" option.
  • Copy/paste the following file to the "Full Path of File to Delete" box:
    • C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
  • Click the red button with a white X on it.
  • At the prompt entitled "Delete on Reboot" select yes.
  • At the prompt entitled "Delete next Reboot" select no.
  • Repeat steps 3 through 6 for the following files:
    • C:\WINDOWS\conscorr.exe
    • c:\windows\system32\lkzplzy.exe
  • Copy/paste the following file to the "Full Path of File to Delete" box:
    • C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe
  • Click the red button with a white X on it.
  • At the prompt entitled "Delete on Reboot" select yes.
  • At the prompt entitled "Delete next Reboot" select yes.
  • Your computer will reboot.
You may get some error messages on boot up. Post a new HijackThis log in a reply to this topic.

Hmmm...it's still running.

Make sure you still have Killbox and reboot into Safe mode by tapping the F8 key while your computer starts up and selecting "Safe Mode" from the menu that appears. (You will not be able to access the internet while in Safe mode).


Run Killbox:

*If you get "File does not exist" for any of the files below just continue with the rest*
  • Double-click KillBox.exe to start KillBox.
  • Select the "Standard File Kill" option.
  • Copy/paste the following file to the "Full Path of File to Delete" box:
    • c:\windows\system32\uiajtd.exe
  • Click the red button with a white X on it.
  • At the prompt entitled "Confirm Delete" select yes.
  • At the prompt entitled "Success" click OK.
  • Repeat steps 3 through 6 for the following files:
    • C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\conscorr.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe
  • Close Killbox.
Please run HijackThis, do a scan, and place a check next to the following items to be fixed:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Hi,
Kill box said the following files do not exist:
c:\windows\system32\uiajtd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\conscorr.exe

I deleted the rest. When I ran Hijack this, I couldn't find O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tnnkwm] c:\windows\system32\uiajtd.exe. I checked and fixed the rest. Here is my new log.

Also, I am having trouble getting rid of Mccafee antivirus. It never let me uninstall it. Any chance you can tell me how to get rid of this while you're cleaning up the rest of my computer? By the way, I REALLY appreciate your help!

Go to "Start" > "Run" and type services.msc
Find System Startup Service and double-click it.
If it is started click "Stop" and change the startup type to "Disabled."
Click "OK" and exit services.msc.

Run Killbox:
  • Double-click KillBox.exe to start KillBox.
  • Select the "Standard File Kill" option.
  • Check "End Explorer Shell While Killing File."
  • Copy/paste the following file to the "Full Path of File to Delete" box:
    • C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
  • Click the red button with a white X on it.
  • At the prompt entitled "Confirm Delete" select yes.
  • At the prompt entitled "Success" click OK.
  • Repeat steps 4 through 7 for the following files:
    • c:\windows\system32\fxcuyr.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe
  • Close Killbox.
Please run HijackThis, do a scan, and place a check next to the following items to be fixed:

Ok, lets try this again...

Run Killbox:
  • Double-click KillBox.exe to start KillBox.

okay, I did what you said. When I rebooted, I got an error message saying that it couldn't find the nail file.

The random process is still running though so I'm willing to bet that Nail.exe and the others are back now. :tazz: I have been told the random process changes on reboot and will also change if it detects you have removed its startup in the registry (the HijackThis O4 item). I am guessing that it will also change if you log off and then back on. Therefore it is crucial that you do not reboot, log off, or try to do anything to it after posting a HijackThis log. I am not sure if thats causing the problem or it's something else but the method I am trying now has worked before.

Also, about the trouble removing McAfee, have you already uninstalled it and just see leftovers laying around? I see some McAfee items in your logs.

Since this has worked before...I am going to try this approach another time or two...

Run Killbox:
  • Double-click KillBox.exe to start KillBox.
  • Select the "Delete on Reboot" option.
  • Copy all of the following files files at once:

    C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
    c:\windows\system32\xhqaqd.exe
    c:\windows\SvcProc.exe

  • In Killbox go to "File" > "Paste from Clipboard."
  • Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the "Full Path of File to Delete" box and make sure these files are there together. If the random xhqaqd.exe is not there stop and post a new HijackThis log in a reply to this topic.
  • Click the red button with a white X on it.
  • At the prompt entitled "Delete on Reboot" select yes.
  • At the prompt entitled "Delete next Reboot" select yes.
  • Your computer will reboot.
After the reboot, post a new HijackThis log in a reply to this topic. Do not reboot, log off, or mess with the infection until killing instructions are posted. ;)

Oh, and as far as McCaffee, I uninstalled some of the mcafee programs, and when I tried to get rid of the last one, it told me I couldn't uninstall it until the service center was uninstalled. I can't find any other mcafee items to uninstall!
