hey all, upgraded my rig:
amd athlon 64 x2 5200
msi k9n4 ultra motherboard
nvidia 8500gt 512mb
1gb ddr2 800 ram
on 500w power supply

but when i press the on switch, it seems all components and fans power on except for the cpu (fan remains still), what could the problem be? i have no idea

Did you attach both power leads from the PSU to the motherboard?

Let it run for about 30 seconds and it should turn on. My motherboard has a feature that adjusts the fan speed according to the temperature which is probably the same case for you. I was worried about it, then I just went for it because I knew this feature existed. Low and behold it was the problem.
