I've visited many sites which give specific direction on how to remove this worm, but they all seem to be pretty old, and the links to some of the removal tools are now dead or out-dated. Can somebody give me up-to-date info on how to remove it? Many thanks.

I just downloaded and ran Panda to see what would show up in the log. It seems to have eradicated the worm. I've done several scans with AdAware and it comes up clean even after a restart. I've got my fingers crossed.

First please move HijackThis to a permanent folder

• Open My Computer, then click C:\ and then on Program Files or another folder that is easy to find.
• In the menu bar choose File >> New >> Folder.
• That will create a folder named New Folder, rename it to HJT or some other name you are likely to remember.
• Right click on the zipped folder containing HijackThis, choose Extract files, extract it to this path: C:\Program Files\HJT or whatever you named it.

Install an antivirus software

I see that you don't have an antivirus. It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. I recommend to install free antivirus AVG or Avast. Download and install one, update it and scan your computer.

Note: Do not have more than one active antivirus at a time.

Download and run DSS

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.

• Close all other windows before proceeding.
• Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
• When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
