i have an *.AVI file that I would like to convert to *.MPG so a friend of mine can watch it on his DVD player. ive tried a few programs from www.videohelp.com but cannot find one that works. any software out there (free if possible) is out there that will let me convert AVI to MPG?

You can try elso VidLogo by geovid. There is a free trial version without time limit. I use this software long time and it good convert my video files.

i would suggest riva FLV Encoder. it's meant for converting flash files but you can use to convet others

just after it comes up with output name put .MPG and it will convert to MPG
