I was following some instructions on the
READ THIS B4 YOU POST HijackThis LOG Post

I didn't "Select All" as it suggests.

I checked these boxes:

windows temp
current user temp
all users temp
prefetch
java cache

My partner's going to VERY ANGRY because they had a lot of work-related url shortcuts on the desktop instead of in favs/bookmarks (which I'd forgotten about)

My real questions is can I get the desktop icons back???

Please respond ASAP!

Thank-you,

dragoNaga.

Try "System Restore" (Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore

From the calendar choose a date just before the icons disappeared, or the nearest available date before that. Doing a System Restore will NOT affect any files in the 'My Documents' folder -- they will be quite safe.

Be aware though that doing a System Restore may also restore any malware that you recently had got rid of, because SR keeps a backup of all the system files as well as any malware that may have been present in the system folders on that date.

Atf couldn't have caused this problem, the code isn't in there to physically do this.

Thanks for your reply...

Are you able to perhaps account for this event (loss of files from the desktop folder)
from a local problem on my system??

Any thoughts as to what may have caused this??
