2 - Search for "sidefind" - only occurence is - IsearchTechSideFind.zip on C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery

3 - I afraid ! am not sure what you mean by your search comments for SideFind or what you want me to do regarding the Registry items you have listed ??

Hello thatman,

I have had a quick look in the Registry using RUN ==> Regedit (but I'm not very adept with it).

Once in the Registry Editor I have used the Find option from the Edit menu looking for sidefind.

It is found (about 6 times) - here are the first few

My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru\5603
Entries:-

Default REG_SZ (value not set)
000 REG_SZ sidefind
001 REG_SZ sfbho
002 REG_SZ spybot
003 REG_SZ bln02nqv (!)

My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com
Entries:-

Default (REG_DWORD) 0x00000005 (5)

My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\sidefind.com
Entries:-

Default REG_SZ (value not set)

My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARPCache\SideFind
Entries:-

(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)
Changed REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (0)
SlowInfoCache REG_BINARY 28 02 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 e0 03 00 00 00 00 00 fe ea e3 db 9f 22 etc etc ect....

There are some other entries - is this of any help ?

Have Fun

Hello thatman,

Sorry about the delay - back on the case now.

When you say "delete this" do you mean the whole Registry entry or just the word "sidefind" or whatever - sorry to be so dumb but really don't want to [bleep]-up the Registry, even with a backup.

Many Thanks

Hello thatman,

Sorry about the dumb question - have sorted it out now.

1 - Backed up the Registry using XP Backup

2 - Regedit.exe

3 - Deleted the items mentioned in your last post

I am using regedit 'Find' to locate any other occurences of sidefind and will list them here and await instructions before deleting them.

My Thanks again for your help (and patience !).

Have Fun

Hello thatman,

The Regedit 'Find' gave me the following :-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-19\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

I have not done anything with these, but I suspect they can all be deleted. I will await your reply before proceeding.

Many Thanks

Hi hlbinternational

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [PcSync] PCsync.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [PcSync] PCsync.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-19\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\sidefind.com

Delete the sidefind value's

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
PCsync.exe<--Delete this file or folder
C:\Program Files\preview adservice<--Delete the whole folder
Exit Explorer.Reboot as normal.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Please post the logs From Panda virus scan and HJT.logWe will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

Hi hlbinternational

Lets see if this make's it easer to find the leftover registery keys

Download and install EasyCleaner:
http://personal.inet...rts/ecleane.htm

After installing it check under Settings > Registry tab if the backup
option is checked and if the directory it points to exists.
This should be true by default, but check anyway.

Then click OK and click Registry
Then click Search. When it is done select all the items per color,
(most, if not all should be green) and click Remove.

Reboot when you are done and let us know how it goes.
