I use my mouse through the USB port with also my internet connection. When starting up the mouse works and so does the internet but throughout using my computer the ports seem to switch off. [Because both net connection and mouse work as i have used them on my laptop.]

E.g. I will be using my computer and typing but then i will not be able to use my mouse because it stops working [so does my internet if i'm using it].

Dial-up Internet tends to be cut-off by your provider if you don't use it for so long. Some broadband providers (though not all that many) do this too.
Some mice especially wireless mice switch themselves off if you don't use them for a while. Normally you awaken them by just clicking a button.

It is not a problem with the net cable due to me saying "Because both net connection and mouse work as i have used them on my laptop." But it's ok, i have worked it out.
