hey im working on building a computer and i was wondering if there would be any problems using xp pro or the 64bit version of xp on a quad core q6600

The only issue you're likely to run into will be driver support for 64-bit XP.

There are no known issues at this time with quad-core support under any version of XP, Home or otherwise. People get dual-core and dual-processor mixed up.

Dual-core is the art of two brains on one processor basically, whereas quad-core is four brains on one processor. This is supported easily by XP Home.
Dual-processor is having two separate physical processors on one board. This is only supported by XP Pro.
