If I want to take full advantage of Ajax in the future what types of languages should my site utilize, or to my previous question, would it work in ruby on rails? if i ended up using a language like PHP or ASP, would Ajax work in those languages?

Better yet, since I'm looking for a programmer, what type of programmer would i need to find? what languages would he/she need to develop the site in? phew! it's so difficult trying to ask the question correctly. I'm a filmmaker, not a developer.

Thanks you guys!

Although javascript is the language AJAX communicates with, if you are building websites or web applications that use AJAX i would almost certainlity learn ASP.NET and visual studio 2005. From what i understand it is A LOT easier to develop interactive AJAX web applications in VS 2005 IDE. Infact i havent checked but i can imagine you would already be able to download many already developed ajax controls to just plug into your web pages on the VS IDE. programming language to learn if your using ASP.NET? C# or VB.NET.
