Good Afternoon. I just recieved a new dvd recorder for fathers day. I have a Dell xps-t500 pentium lll 500 mhz and 32 or 64 mb memory.

The system requirements for the dvd recorder are:
Pentium lll 800MHz ( pentium 4 1.8GHz or higher is recommended for fastest results) or equivalent. 128MB memory. Direct x video and sound card. Windows 98se/Me/200/XP. 600 MB
600 MB free hard drive space to install nero software
10GB free hard drive space for DVD disc creation
One 5.25" half height empty drive bay
Enabled DMA support.

I'm not quiet sure what a have and what else i need. I know i need more memory but what else do i need to get up and running.?
all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

O.k let me try again.

As close as i can figure out my system specs are.

Dell Dimension XPS T-500
Intel pentium lll 500MHz
128 MB 100MHZ SDRAM
2X AGP video card
Yamaha 724 DS-1 chip set

and im stll running windows 98se.

um, i'm not sure if there is anything else i can tell you. I would like to upgrade my computer to accomodate the dvd recorder but i dont have alot of money to spend.

can you suggest anything? (bugget consious of course.)

if you could tells us what Mb it as in it you may be looking at just getting a faster chip to replace the 500mz one

I happened to stop buy Best Buy. The guy suggested that i look into a buying a new computer. Is it really that serious?

O.k when you say "Mb" did you mean motherboard? if so how do i find out what kind i have?

Yes that is what I mean if you open the side of you case and just look at the motherboard there should be some info on it to tell you who makes it and there should be a model # on it . before you open the case make sure you unplug it from you power supply. be careful on touch stuff in there its ok to move the wires and cables a little so you can see the MB. and for what the guy said at best buy with out Him knowing what Mb you have he is just trying to sell you a new pc.

As far as i can tell the motherboard is a SE440BX2 or BX3? I'm really not sure because i did not find those number on the Mb. I went through some kind of dell help site. I did see something that said Dell REV. A01.

From what the book says, i can only increase my memory to 768MB.

this is what I could find on the info you gave you need to know if it as a AA in the revisions it will take the 800 you would need. if you can find one.
other thing you can do is get a case motherboard and ram here are the ones I would go with
