hey again guys, i was clearing a laptop up of some unwanted progs and i think i may have removed some audio hardware. I remember removing something called an 'AC' something if this helps.

You must have removed your audio drivers. Did you get a driver CD with your PC? Or do you know the model of the soundcard?

Was it "Realtek AC '97" by any chance?

yeah it was, there was another realtek too that i didnt rmeove, it was an ethernet nic driver
