I just got one problem fixed and another cropped up! I have 2 computers on a home network and have been sharing files and printers
with no problem for months. Now, I cannot share. Running XPPRO SP2.
It looks as if there is a failure in DNS translating as I have run CDIAG.CMD and found that pinging, etc. using computer name
fails while using IP works. Appended below are the CDIAG.TXT files for both computers.
Since my wife's laptop depends on printer sharing, I would like to resolve this problem ASAP
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Hi Ken
What I have in blue is what you type what I have in red is what you do.
Could you please do this on both computers- go to the command prompt (under accessories) and at the prompt
type in ipconfig enter
please send me the ip address, subnet mask & gateway.
Right click on my computer > properties > computer name. are both computers in the same workgroup.
Cheers

Thanks for your reply Peter. I believe I have found the problem. The network was working perfectly for months and suddenly stopped.
I had not changed anything but I thought about "automatic" upgrades. I then turned off Zonealarm and the problem went away!
Funny thing, if I turn off Zonealarm just after booting my desktop, then turn it on again, the share network also works.
I really don't need a software firewall since my router is secure.
Thanks again.
