If your friend can, start the computer in safe mode and let sit.. If it does not reset it may point to software issues. If it does reset then it may be a problem with hardware or windows.
Do you have external devices attached? Printers, Digital Cameras, Scanners, etc.

he has tried it in safe mode, but it didnt help the problem cause it kept on doing the same thing. i think he has a printer

sounds very much like hardware for the reason given before, but unplugging the things connected to the computer try either of these
restore form command prompt,

hopefully it is one or the other, if not we will have to think about hardware as cause, temperature, ram., etc.,
