Xp shuts down!

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my windows Xp, when i start it up it runs
perfectly, but after couple hours of work it suddently shuts down.
no viruses no spy ware or anything.
could it be a hardware problem? or should i get some updates?
i have updated Xp from microsoft update service i installed all available updates but that did not solve the problem?

So can anyone help me with this problem???

Get Everest Home (Free) then click + next to computer then sensor at start up then every 15 mins to see if you have a heat issue
