Context Menus

whatever application i'm using the context menus keep popping up without warning, seriously disrupting function of app. when i start the computer the toolbar properties menu pops up and won't disappear until I open an application and then all [bleep] breaks loose! Is this a virus I've caught? the PC i'm talking about isn't online and to my recollection i haven't inserted any unvetted discs lately. Anyone have any ideas?

To rule out hardware. Although I do not think it is likely
Do you have another keyboard you can test?
Do you have another mouse you can test?
Has your computer become slow lately?
