Hello again, I am experiencing pop-up issues from the Internet Explorer when I don't even use it. I use Mozilla Firefox and I keep getting pop-ups from IE and occasionally some pop-up tabs from Firefox. These pop-ups are usually telling me that my system is infected with spyware and trojans and offering various different programs to delete them.

So, I tried using programs such as Spybot Search & Destroy and Adaware (by Lavasoft) to get rid of these problems. I also went on Firefox and IE and deleted all my cookies. After all that, I'm still getting pop-ups for some reason.

Then today, my friend introduced me to programs called Crap Cleaner and No-Script. After installing those programs and configuring them, I don't get IE pop-ups any more, but I still get those occasional Firefox pop-up tabs.

Is there any way to completely get rid of them and prevent more pop-ups, or should I format my hard drive and start fresh?

Thanks for your concern.

Hi:

Please go to the Malware section of this forum and follow the instructions at the top. Especially the Click Here link. That will give you several steps that will help you clean up most of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the cleanup process you are still having difficulty, and you may not be, then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

Please be patient as the "Malware Forum" is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the Malware Section, please return to this thread. Please do not post a HiJackThis log in this thread unless asked to do so and then only as an attachment. To attach log, when requested, either change the .log extension to .txt, or put the log into a compressed (zipped) folder.

Please post back if your problem has been solved.
