Good afternoon,

I am having the following problem with a HDD and hope someone can give me some tips on fixing this problem. The desktop was working fine until this weekend; when I powered up the PC, Windows loaded fine, but while loading the startup items, the computer crashed and restarted itself and the Bios does not detect the Hard Drive.

If I turn off the Desktop for a while and turn it back on, I can go to the Bios and set it detects the HDD, but then again, after loading windows it crashes again and the same problem happens.

Any tips on what might be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Insert the Windows cd into the drive, when it has finnished loading, you will see a prompt to enter the 'Recovery Console'. Press r. When a the console opens (you should see a black screen with white writing), type: chkdsk/r at the prompt. The computer should then reboot, tell us the results in a reply.
