xp repair option

Hi, I am trying to repair my xp machine using the repair option from the CD but when I do it comes to the recovery console screen and says "the recovery console provides system repair and recovery functionality. 1: c:\windows....which windows installation would you like to log onto (to cancel press enter"....what do I enter at this point, please? I appreciate any help.
