Open HijackThis to the misc tools section and click the Delete an NT Sevice button. Paste in Ź ACCRA and click OK.
Repeat that for KDE.

Please reboot the computer again.

Can I see a fresh log again?

Both 'files' were "open or running" and to be removed using hijack this (?) I took the Accra one out. Hope that was okay (?)

The pop ups still plague-when no browser is open. Tells me to go to infopatch or something and names windows specifically as being vulnerable. I HATE WINDOWS!! :tazz: We should of bought the [bleep] Mac instead of this Dell. Anyway...

Please do this:
Open a command prompt window. Click Start>Run, type CMD, and then press the Enter.
At the command prompt, type the following:
NET STOP "Loading Outpost Connections (KDE)"
NET STOP "Trace network connections (ACCRA)"
Press Enter. A message should indicate that the service has been stopped successfully.
Close the command prompt window.

Then open HijackThis and put a check to these items:
O23 - Service: Trace network connections (ACCRA) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\mocih.exe (file missing)

O23 - Service: Loading Outpost Connections (KDE) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmdtel.exe (file missing)

close all windows and press 'fix checked'.

Reboot the computer. Please post me a fresh log.

Open Notepad.
Copy the text from the box to an empty file.
Save it as ‘export.bat’ to your desktop.
Choose ‘save as all types *.*’

regedit /e runcmd.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer"

Close Notepad.

Find ‘export.bat’ on your desktop.
Doubleclick the file. It will create a file on your desktop called ‘runcmd.reg’
Copy the entire text and past it to your reply here in this topic.

Open killbox.
Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following lines (complete paths) from the box in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\1252xwma.exe
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
Let the system reboot.

Post back here with the text from the file runcmd and a fresh log using HijackThis.

The runcmd file posted to my desktop with a message that said it placed it in my regfile. I can not open it. It repeats the message.

Also put the CODE file in the Killbox. Could not get it to be in BOLD (?)

This round did not go as plan. Am I doing something wrong?

The pop ups continue to plague. For my sanity, could you pen a few lines on the nature of such a beast and how it has gotten such a hold on my computer?

Let's restore the run command.

Type the text from the box to an empty notepad file:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoRun"=dword:00000000
Save it to your desktop
name: runback.reg
type : all type
Close notepad

doubleclick the file runback.reg
grant permission to add it to the registry.

Let me know if you have 'run' back in 'start'.

How about this:
Right-click the Taskbar and select Properties.
Select Start Menu.
Click on Customize.
Click on Advanced.
Look for a check box for Run command in the option window. Check the box.

See if it's back now?

Let's try it again, it WILL disappear.

Go to start - run
type: services.msc and click OK
Find this in the list:
Trace network connections (ACCRA)
Rightclick that line and choose proporties
Click the stop-button under status of service
In the pulldownmenu next to startuptype choose disabled
Click Apply
Repeat these steps for
Loading Outpost Connections (KDE)

Click OK when you are ready.

Please reboot to be sure and post me another log.

Done as instructed. Both service status were aldready listed as 'stopped' and the STOP button was not interactive. But.....the startup key was marked Automatic...so I disabled it for both. Here is the fresh log. Thanks again for your persistance.

That's one of my bad habits; I can't stand it if a log or a computer shows leftovers ;)

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
  • Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

    See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:

  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

  • Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.

  • Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.

  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
