I have often heard that email is never truly deleted. My freshman year of college, I had saved a document I planned to use after graduation in aol and on my external hard-drive. Soon after saving it in AOL mail, it was deleted (I guess) from my inbox due to inactivity. Later that year, my apartment was burglarized and my external hard-drive and computer were both stolen. I was wondering if there was any way of retrieving the old email from AOL somehow. Is this possible? Thank you so much for your time.

I doubt very seriously that AOL archives old or deleted email accounts although there may be a requirement to do so by some kind of law enforcement regulation. Just don't know what the laws are regarding this. You could always ask AOL. Sorry if this isn't much help.
