How can I disable acrobat reder 8 auto update? There is a box to check in the update process but it does not help because when opened in browser it will look for updates.

Did you already do this?

In adobe reader, click help, check for updates, click preferences, untick automatically check for updates, also untick the application to check updates for, click OK
