problems changing wallpaper

hi everyone, i've been having trouble changing my desktop properties after relieving my spyware problem, which was continuous pop-ups from those two supposed spyware removers. i had used spyware doctor from download.com to help clean it out along with winpatrol to tell me of any activities. i've noticed this is a common problem but i didn't see anything relevant to the same causes. i can change the desktop color and to the pre-set themes, but my wallpaper list is highlighted out, and i can't even scroll through my list. so if someone could help me restore my laptop to it's original state that would do me greatly. :whistling:
