Hello,
Will try to give as much info as possible.
I have desktop Windows 98se.
Also desktop Windows home xp.
Printer is HP 895 Cse.
At the moment printer is connected to 98se.
Both pcs are connected to a Linksys befw11s4v4 router.
Also connected to a Motorola cable modem.
Using the wireless router as wired.
Both pcs are connected by Ethernet cable to router.
All components are within 6 feet of each other.
Don't know if they have to be networked.
I don't really need a network.
All I want is to be able to use both pcs with the printer.
The easiest and best way would be helpful.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank-You,
John God

Hi John
I hope the easy way out is to connect your printer to the 98 machine and set it up. You will need the originl cd for this so you can get the 98 drivers. Once it is setup right click on network neighbourhood >propertities> configuration tab>file and print sharing. Click on I want others to be able to use my printer. Cick OK click Ok again.
Go to start>settings>printers, Click once on the printer then right click click on sharing if you want give the printer a name click ok then go to the xp machine and use the add a printer wizzard chose network printer.
If you get stuck let me know.
If you cant see the printer from xp then we might have to set up the network
Cheers

I just now are trying to connect the xp pc to the printer.
Both pcs are connected to the router.

Hi John
The problem with xp & 98 is they do not talk to each other unless you copy some files.
What I hope is that although 98 won't talk to xp with out the extra files installed xp should talk to 98(works one way but not the other).
So if you right click on the printer and choose sharing. Then you should see the printer from xp when you use the add printer wizard & choose Network printer.
Cheers
Peterm
