Thanks for replying but this Realtek AC'97 A401 is not the proper sound driver for my sound card. I've tried before and it did not work. Do you have other suggestions?

They should be on the motherboard CD if you have that, or from the motherboard manufacturer's site
You can use Everest if you don't know which model the motherboard is
Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process
Download and install Everest Home Edition
Run the programme, click + next to computer then summary
Look on the right for motherboard
Look at the manufacturer’s site for the suitable drivers for your Operating System
If you are unable to find them, please post the make and model here before you download anything
Please set a system restore point before you install anything

I lost my drivers CD and I also downloaded Everest soft. Everest soft showed that my motherboard name is unknown. I thought about checking my mobo but I was afraid that I might spoiled it . Untill now, I just know that my sound device's name is Intel 82801DB(M) ICH4(-M) - AC'97 Audio Controller [B-1].

E-Mail realtek to ask which drivers you need
mailto:[email protected]
The Intel site just refers you to the motherboard site, and there are so many AC 97 versions

This may be what you are looking for. Intel_AC'97 You will probably have to register to download though.
