Hi all,

I have just come back from holidays and noticed a minor change on my computer.

When in a web page and i right click, to open page in new tab or windows i have a new option.

The option is "Download all with rapidshare downloader".

My step son used the computer and claims he didnt do it.

I have tried to "uninstall" but there is no rapidshare to uninstall.

I have looked in "program files", also nothing there.

Can anybody help??

Hi patchy_pete...

My step son used the computer and claims he didnt do it.

It's a warez downloader...I'd have to wonder about the validity of his statement.

You may be looking at something left behind in the registry after an uninstall. Try a system restore to before you left for the holiday.

Hi wannabe1,

thanks for taking the time for your help.

Im not comfortable and have never done a system restore before.

I am more than happy to try.

Would it be easier if i can post a hijack this log???

Peter.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to move you over to the Malware Forum. There may be more than just fragments in your machine. Start a topic Here with "rapidshare downloader" in the title. Put the HiJackThis log there.

If you want to try a system restore to roll back the registry, it's easy to do in Vista...and works very well to remove registry fragments. I'd still let a malware expert have a look at a log, though.
