Will it load up fully in safe mode?

It will not boot in safe mode or safe mode with prompt or networking. I think its just me im cursed. The other system im running is having problems now i booted it up and a window came on just after windows loaded saying i had a invalid image check this agains your windows diskette. So gonna have to reinstal again. Im gonna just have to go agains my own advice and just buy a [bleep]ing pre-built system. Its pretty obvious that im just destroying everything im touching.

Ok, do what ever you think is best.
If you are tempted to have another fiddle with the system though, I would recommend maybe changing the IDE cable. If both drives are giving you the inaccessible boot device error still, then the cable being the only common component could be the problem.

Well you are going to have to format the drive again this has something to do with the ide controller and the driver it is using, remove the slave hdd and format the boot drive then install windows.

Right after you install windows you need to install the chipset drivers and all other drivers that are on the cd that came with your mobo, make sure the cd is labled as the correct one for your mobo just in case they shipped the wrong cd with the mobo.

It seems to me that the hdd controllers driver is some how gettig corrupted creating this problem, during install windows uses its generic driver but then you update this driver to the correct one when you run the cd that came with the mobo. Maybe it is here that the problem beginns. you are install these drivers aren't you?

After you get all the mobo drivers installed get a virus scan running and then get all the MS critical updates except service pack 2 and any driver updates MS recommends.

Then run the system for awhile before you install the 2nd hdd to see how it works.

Ok i used a bran spank IDE cable and installed xp with no trouble now im gonna put on the chipset drivers and the network drivers for my ethernet but it just keeps coming up with network cable unplugged so i aint been on live or central station for about a month now.
OK so far so good.. thanks for the advice i wasnt sure if putting the chipset drivers on was corrupting the HDDs in some way.

Just a suggestion from a humble noob, but one way to fix hardware problems is by stripping down this one and taking one stick of memory, one ide cable, and the working hd from your working comp, then put it in your crap comp. if it works, start replasing the old parts one by one untill you find the problem.

It would be really scary if it worked too

As I read this, (and I'm trying) you've been working on this puppy for over a month and have yet to hear it bark like a real Dawg. You've gotten some pretty good guidance but every time I read your next post it has little or no relationship to the advice you were just given. Blotto - notta, notta! Makes me suspect that I've got a problem with my monitor because nothing follows. I've read this thread about 3 times now and still can't figure out what you're doing.

Help me out here ....... just what is it that another board and some more memory is going to do for you?

No offense meant, you just have me wondering what's in this last carton of Camels ......

do the opposite of what i said... one by one, replace the crap parts into your working comp untill you find the problem or are down to just a motherboard...that should work.

Yeh thats pretty much y im gonna be getting a new MOBO and memory so i can rule them out because i have tryed all my harddrives and CPU they all seem to work in my other build just not this one im having trouble with. Ihave sorted the harddrive problem on the pc im using now i just formated it using fat32 and everything seems to be running ok now.
