I've had this HP dv1000 entertainment notebook for about two years now. About six months ago it simply died. I had the power cord checked for good power output (or whatever) and it's fine. After searching it seems that this problem is not uncommon with these machines. What's going on? One guy said he's had his motherboard replaced four times! It costs an arm and a leg to get it checked out at Bestbuy. What do you suggest?

hi, welcome to geekstogo, what is the level of death here in that are any lights flashing when you switch on, also do you get the same result if you take out the batterry and plug in directly to the wall, also is the contact lose fitting when you put it in the back of the machine, also do you have a friend who has the same type of computer to see if a charged battery works(pointing to mains power problem within the computer), thanks
