Okay, my dad's IT says that anytime you run an application on your computer, it installs it on there..... or something alone that line. Is this true?

Little confusing as to what you are asking, but if you are running an application, that means that application WAS installed on the PC or laptop you're running it on. There are some stand alone apps which can be totally run from a thumb drive that does not install to the PC or laptop, but runs directly from the thumb drive. Does that answer your questions?
