Hi, Sobosa :)

Welcome to Geeks to go.

Please print these instructions for reference, as you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from Here or Here.

Note: You will need to run this tool while having an Internet Connection. The tool will download other files while running.
  • Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
  • The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
  • If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional files from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
  • You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
  • Once the desktop loads a text file will open (report.txt).
Please post the C:\fixwareout\report.txt ), along with a new HijackThis log into this topic.

Hi, Sobosa :)

Anti-Virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash.

If you choose to install more than one Anti-Virus program on your computer, then only one of them should be active in memory at a time.

There are basically two types of these programs: On-Access and On-Demand

On-Access Scanners
As the name implies, are scanners that run in the background all the time the PC is turned on and running. The main function of an On-Access scanner is to monitor activity on your machine.

On-Demand Scanners
As the name implies, are scanners that only run when you ask them to.
Such as, Online Scans and scanners that run on your machine but are not actively scanning your machine.

You are using three (3) Antivirus Programs, AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, avast! Antivirus and AVG 7.0. I would suggest you remove them all, except for AVG 7.0.

The rest of the log looks clear. How is the computer doing?

Odd, i guess it might be my fault...

I ran Spybot S&D and it reported a Zlob.DSNChanger virus. and deleted it.

Ran it again later that day and it produced the same virus (i dont recall if i rebooted)

Then freaked out and downloaded the other 2 Anti-Virus programs, AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic and avast!. (I norm only use AVG)

After runnning everything i could i still had bad disconnect problems etc. and came here for help.

I deleted AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic and avast! and seem to be running ok, no internet disconects yet, guess
having to much protection could be a bad thing too.

But thank you for your time, if I have any reoccuring problems that I've had can I reopen this thread if you lock it?

Hi, Sobosa :)

But thank you for your time, if I have any reoccurring problems that I've had can I reopen this thread if you lock it?

Since the issue appears to be resolve, I will keep the thread opened for 2 days, in case you experience something else related to this issue, but we have to move on. Once closed, if you experience other problems, you will need to open a new topic.

I am glad things are better. Congratulations.Posted Image

Since the tools we used to scan the computer, as well as tools to delete files and folders, are no longer needed, they should be removed, as well as the folders created by these tools.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programmes changing them. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.)

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK..

Create a Restore point:
  • Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.
  • In the System Restore dialog box, click Create a restore point, and then click Next.
  • Type a description for your restore point, such as "After Cleanup", then click Create.
The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
  • Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  • AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  • SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
  • IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  • CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  • Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  • Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  • Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein.

Best wishes! Posted Image

Hi, Sobosa :)

Whatever might be, it isn't malware. Are you still disconnecting after reseting your Winsock and clearing your DNS Cache?

Yes, i reset the Winsock and cleared the DSN Cache and the disconnects keep coming. I did call my internet provider

and asked them to run a scan on how many disconnects I've had in the last 30 days, and they were wowed by my being

disconncted from the internet well over 41,000 time in the last 30 days. They will be sending a Tech to come check it

out. Not sure what they will find other than confirming that hey this guy disconnects alot lol. While I'm relieved that I'm

not infected, I'm more put off that I'm not lol (If that makes any since). When Spybot S&D came up with

Zlob.DSNChanger and all the disconnects I just thought I was infected. I do thank you though for all the help you have

provided me.
