I am in trouble again. Whilst trying to install driver for digital camera, from a disc, I was unsuccessful. After several attempts I checked on the Computer details and found that the 'Other' drive, for the DVD/CD had disappeared. leaving only the 'C' and 'D' drives. Shortly after I discovered the sound icon from the Task Bar had gone and no sound was available. Checking in the System I found a fault shown on the Pioneer DVD-RW and on the Realec Ac97 Audio.

It must be in there somewhere!! Can I have more of your valuable assistance? David

In device manager expand dvd/cd-rom drives. Right click on each item and click Uninstall. after uninstalling boot the computer. Windows will install the needed drivers automatically. Do the same with Realtek AC97. If after reboot the sound is still no good, reinstall the audio driver of your sound card.

Mr skeptic,
You are the bees knees!! I rebooted and the E DRIVE was back so I was able to use my back-up discs to recover Realtec Ac97 and, in addition, the PCI Modem.

Best Wishes from a happy, old pensioner. David
