Need to keep press F8 just as Windows loads.
A failsafe way is to start and keep pressing F8 as the computer goes through the first bit where it counts the memory, finds the drives, etc,. Some computers may respond to this by asking you what drive you want to boot from, just select IDE or Hard Drive or alternative and continue tapping F8. When you get the menu, select the appropriate option. If you miss F8 by the time you see the XP splash screen, you've missed it and need to reset.
