First problem bf1942:

I done something when tried to install a map mod and changed the program it's meant to open with, i removed that program and it doesn't work still, I have un-installed the game and installed it again and still didn't work. I was thinking of completely clearing my pc but i don't know how. So if anyone knows how to fix it or how to completely wipe my computer then please tell me.

My next problem is with both bf2142 and bf2:

The problem with these is they like lag badly when i play them, online and on single player. It like freezes for a second or 2 then moves for a few seconds then freezes again, this repeats all the time. Any suggestions?

That will help us get started on your BF2 and BF2142 problems :)

As far as BF1942 goes, what was the mod you tried to install?

Biggest issue, not enough RAM, need atleast a gig I'd recommend. Minimum is 512. I don't know what you're trying to run BF2/2142 at but set your settings to the lowest possible. It won't be pretty but it'll run better.

well, no honestly :) I know what you're talking about popping up when you try to run the program, but I don't know where to go from there.
