I've been trying for a while to find some form of freeware that will allow me to watch DVD's outwith my driver's region code... my friend found something but in order to change the code you first have to rip the dvd to your hard drive - i'd rather just be able to bypass the region coding... i know DVD Genie and DVD Region Free do this, but they aren't free programmes... can anyone suggest anything suitable for me??

thanks

not really. It depends on your dvd player. Sometimes you can get firmware that makes the dvd player region free.

cdrinfo.com is a good source for this kind of info.

Additionally I suggest you look at http://dvdhelp.com/ and see what they can recommend.
