I am not sure if this is where to post this problem. When I turned on my desktop today, it started XP and then when I logged on and went into my settings Windows started again, and then my monitor went black. I tried turning it off and tried to boot it up again and it just hangs. The power turns on and the fans are going, but the monitor is black and nothing comes on. I tried cleaning the inside of the comp with dust off, not too much dust. That did not solve the problem. Can someone please guide me. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Try putting RAM in your computer from another rig that you know works. Let us know if it boots up.

"Rig" is a term some of use for a computer. Seeing as you are somewhat inexperienced with this I want to get a better idea of whats going on before you actually have to open the case up and start swapping out hardware (it will not be hard though, trust me).

How far does the computer get through the boot process? Do you never at any point get any video? Does it boot up sometimes or never?
