i believe the last program i installed was google earth. but that was awhile ago. about a amonth before this problem first occurred

No tears,

Did you try the clean boot troubleshooting?

And I found the problem with why it only gave you the date and time.

In the code box is the new code for the bat file.

@ECHO OFF
If exist Results.txt Del Results.txt
Echo %date% %time% >>Results.txt
Echo.>>Results.txt
ECHO Working.......
dir /s /a /b C:\*.cpl >>Results.txt 2>nul

yes i tried your clean boot method, but it didnt soove the problem =(

Go through the list in results.txt and try running each file manually.

Click on start Click on run type in the cpl file name and press enter.

Tell me if any of them do not come up.
