I am looking into some custom builds for HTPC computers for several customers who are interested in home media application of computers. All the builds I currently do have been gaming rigs and business systems. I have done some research but looking for more info from some experienced HTPC builders.

What are the best current motherboards and chipsets for an application where a person would use computer integral to High Def TV for DVR functions and supports HDMI hookup?

What is best OS to use and minimum processor ram specs one would recommend to ensure functional playback of high def content?

Video Card recommendations?

Any info would be greatly appreciated pertaining to subject of building a smooth running HTPC computer primary use would be for DVR and High Def content playback/recording, secondary use would be internet and email and office apps.

I did some more looking around comparing machines made by voodoo pc and a few others to see what is current.

I found this site interesting http://www.moneual.com/main/ thought I would post this up for anyone checking up on HTPC builds. Also a great resource can be found here http://www.pcalchemy.com/


HTPC is just starting to grab some traction, I predict 2008 will be big year for HTPC.
