Using the operating systen cd for windows xp home sp2 that came with my compaq presario M2010US, I have attempted a repair. Everything seemed to go fine until "installing windows". It has been stuck there for 12 hours, saying "setup will complete in approximately 25 minutes". What should I do?

repair or install? Did you boot with the cd? Is it a MS cd or a "recovery cd"?

The only way I know to find out what it's doing is to pull the cd out, turn off the computer and try to boot it. It's been cycling way too long for this to be "ordinary". Please mention that all your back ups are done, and you don't need to preserve any data on the drive.

I already tried removing cd, turning off computer and rebooting. it got stuck at the same spot. And, of course I haven't backed up...but there is not too much important stuff on it.
