Hi All,

my MS antispyware gives me a message about every 5 seconds telling me it has blocked a possible trojan "svchost.exe". Since I know there is a legitimate version of this file, how do I know what's wrong? My comp is slow and when I tried to do an MS update today it said it couldn't install because the system was unstable.

When I look at my active processes and CPU usage it often shows 100% usage for 10 or 15 seconds at a time even although I'm not running anything beyond the start-up stuff.

I've included a hijack this logfile because I knew someone would ask :tazz:

Thanks!

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [svchost] C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe

Is not correct, the correct version of this file is in Windows\system32--you likely have a trojan that impersonates the real windows file

Please follow the instruction in the forum in my signature

Please go to the malware forum in my singature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty, then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.
