i am having some trouble getting rid of the color behind the text of my desktop icons.

i have gone to right click My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced tab -> Performance settings -> select/deselect "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" and whether i have it selected or not the color shows behind the desktop icons. this is the only solution i could find searching online and seemed to solve the issue for most people but it hasnt for me and i hate having those colors there. any suggestions on why this isnt working for me would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

ok sorry, naturally i found an answer to this minutes after posting, but for everyone's reference, this was the problem:

i must have had Active Desktop enabled, so i right clicked Desktop -> Properties -> Desktop tab -> Customize Desktop -> Web tab -> Uncheck any selected profile.

this made my icons transparant.

Thank you for taking the time to post a solution you found to your problem. Many people don't. It does help others who search for solutions before posting a problem they are having.
