I'm rather new to the hardware aspect of computers, and am looking to build my own. However, before I start buying (or even judging) specs that I or my friends have created, I would like to try to grasp what all the specs mean. How do I measure the quality of each part? How can I tell how fast it is/how much it holds/what bearing it has on the system as a whole? Really, I would just like to understand all the funny combinations of letters and numbers that come after the brand name. Basically, all I understand as of now is how to read how big my RAM and HD are.
