Hi Essex- I am sorry to trouble you with this again, I just want to be sure all is well with my computer. I ran all my antispywares and nothing turned up. I ran the SUPERantispyware the Spyblaster and Norton and nothing was in any threats. I will sen you a HackThis log and tell me what you think. Again fairly computer ;iterate but not when it comes to spyware.
So you know I when the ad.yeildmanager.com came up it came up on a google page. I noticed my "default search engine" was set to Google search, which I do prefer so I decided to change the search engine to windows live, since doing that so far (fingers crossed) the darn google page with ad.yieldmanager.com has not come up in the browser. Let me know what you think please.

Okay tried to run HijackThis and this is what it says...not sure I should do this, can you please tell me so I don't mess something up. Inside the HijacThis it looks like my 11-2-07 file I sent you.

For some reason your system denied write access tot he host file. If any Hijacked domains are in this file HijackThis may not be able to fix this.
If this happens you have to edit yourself, do this:

Click start, run and type notepad:C:|windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

and press enter. Find the line(s) HijackThis reports and delete them. Save files in "hosts" (with quotes) and reboot.
For Vista simply exit HijackThis, right click on the HijackThis icon and choose "run as administrator"

Thing is I am already set up as "run as administrator". Sound like they just want me to delete the files in HijackThis but I need to know for sure.

Hijackthis is just a Vista problem, the way round it is to right click the Hijackthis icon and select run as administrator . You will not see the warning then. If you run a new scan and post it please, as an aside I use google as default and have not yet seen that

Here ya go Exxex...I thought once you click the run as admin it would always stay on. Vista is new to me. Let me know what ya think of the file. Since changing the search engine from google to windows live I have had no problems. But please let me know after you read the log.

Very basically the unknown, unusual or just downright odd. Why would you like to learn. There is an excellent school on this site (OK I'm biased they taught me ) Anyway back to my search with my mate Google

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

BHO = Browser Helper object a small programme that makes the browser run more effectively when you want to do something like use Roboform, Spybot S&D, open PDF's use google etc etc

The definition of the one I deleted is

Google.com Search related, found on Dell computers. Responsible for redirecting 404s to a Google/Dell placeholder web page

Still unable at the moment to reproduce the problem but working on it
