I've recently tried installing some dvd playing software on my pc, but none of them will install correctly. For example, AVS Dvd Player. It will install but it won't work, and when I go to the repair icon, it shows a list of files being reinstalled, but every one with a .ax extension gets and error. Same with WinDVD, all .ax's get an error they won't register.

I also have another problem about not being able to change my desktop wallpaper when I right click on the desktop>properties>desktop>browse. It won't let me select another image file. The windows defaults are ok, and I can change it from the My Pictures folder as well.

Not sure if these problems are related at all

I do regular defrags, spyware checks, and virus checks and haven't found anything that could be causing the issue.
