My eldest son wanted to get it up and running for his little brother, so after I had everything hooked up away they went. Something went wrong and the computer can not find an internet connection and gives error messages when I try to rectify the problem.
I took it back to the shop I had purchased it from and the tech played with it for sometime. He eventually pulled the hard drive and switched it with another to show me it was a configuration problem on mine and not the hardware as the drive from the other Optiplex off the shelf connected just fine. He said that my son had likely set Windows up to look for a modem (which it couldnt find) rather than automatically connecting through the network card to the homes router. He said I would need to do a reinstall.
Is this correct?
Is there anything else I can do?
